Mark Bryan started teaching chess in August 2008 for his Service section of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. In 2010, Mark achieved the Developmental Instructor trainer title from FIDE.
From 2016 Mark is a FIDE Instructor. For the European Youth Chess Championship in 2017, Mark was selected as one of two coaches for the Cyprus participants. As of 2019, Mark is also a ECU Certified School Chess Teacher. For the Online Chess Olympiad 2020 Mark was selected as Team Captain of the Cyprus Team.
Mark teaches chess at the G C School of Careers Elementary since September 2017. The school is currently the only school in Cyprus where chess is part of the curriculum and all students from Grade 1 to 6 take part.

In 2012 Mark obtained the FIDE Arbiter title. Since then, Mark has been Chief Arbiter of the Cyprus Closed Chess Championships in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. At the 2016 Baku Chess Olympiad Mark was a Match Arbiter. Also at the 2018 Batumi Women’s Chess Olympiad Mark was a Match Arbiter. Mark was an anti-cheating arbiter at the European Youth Chess Championship in 2019. At the Online European Youth Chess Championship 2020 Mark was a local arbiter for Cyprus.
Mark Bryan is also involved in chess organization. At the 2008 Chess Olympiad Mark did an internship. From March 2013 until July 2020 Mark was the Cyprus Chess Federation Ratings Officer. In 2017, Mark was one of the founding members of the Arion Chess Club.
